Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 cars have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.
Police say they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.
The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a swastika, they added.
Law enforcement then discovered numerous other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement state initial examinations suggest the liquid was likely human blood.
"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; investigators are presently not cognizant of any injuries in connection with the incident," they stated.
Local authorities said they were trying "to unravel the case" and have requested to the public for details.
An important official said the incident left him speechless and needed to be solved rapidly.
"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack half a decade ago," he posted on online, recalling the death of nine victims by a assailant focusing on individuals of migrant background in 2020.
