2K Games has appointed a seasoned producer from Respawn Entertainment to direct the development team at their internal studio, which is currently working on the upcoming over-the-shoulder action-packed title known as Project Ethos.
Leadership Shift Comes After Poor Reception
Brinkman takes on the role of studio head at 31st Union following the departure of previous head Michael Condrey, who was reportedly let go due to Project Ethos' disappointing early showing last fall.
On Wednesday, the company's top executive David Ismailer informed employees about this decision through an internal memo, which emphasized that playtesting had revealed the requirement for a distinct direction.
Ismailer expressed that the developers is now overhauling the project with a revised approach, aiming to address player expectations.
Trend of Strategic Hires
The news echoes a comparable step taken by 2K Games in the summer, when they recruited Rod Fergusson from the Diablo team to work on the beloved franchise development group.

The progress is encouraging to see how far you’ve come. You took the criticism to consideration and reimagined Project ETHOS with a renewed direction - one that’s ready to fulfill its potential to our audience.

The appointee currently serves in the position of senior developer and head of production at the renowned studio for Apex Legends. Brinkman earlier worked at Treyarch and Activision in multiple development positions on the iconic franchise series, and, before that, had stints at 2K and Electronic Arts.
